A.G. BRADY APPLAUDS SIGNING OF 'SAFE ARMS FOR BABIES' BILL

(Wilmington, DE) - Attorney General M. Jane Brady today praised the formal enactment of H.B. 120, the measure permitting a parent to abandon an infant at a hospital emergency room without fear of prosecution. The bill was signed into law by Governor Ruth Ann Minner today in Wilmington.

Attorney General Brady noted, "The tragic fatal baby abandonments of the last several years have been agonizing for Delaware. If this new law helps to save even one child, our community will be better off. It is always better to prevent a homicide than to prosecute one."

The Attorney General congratulated Governor Minner and the legislators who led the effort to win passage of the bill during the last several years. They include Representatives Pamela Maier and Nancy Wagner, Senators Patricia Blevins and Liane Sorenson, and retired Senator Myrna Bair.
