ATTORNEY GENERAL ORDERS RESTITUTION IN IMAGES II HEALTH SPA CASE
Checks to be distributed to consumers next week
(Dover, DE): Attorney General Jane Brady today announced that the Office of Attorney General - Consumer Protection Unit has ordered that restitution, in the amount of $17,357.66, be paid to 140 members of the Images II health spa. These 140 consumers, who have submitted claims and provided supporting documentation to the Consumer Protection Unit, will be reimbursed through the Health Spa Guarantee Fund for the prorated value of their health spa membership. All 140 consumers have been personally contacted and notified of the status of their claims. A briefing on the status of the enforcement action by the Attorney General's Office against Images II will be given by Attorney General Brady and members of the Consumer Protection Unit on Monday, June 10th at 8:30 a.m. at Nancy's Riverfront Café, 1 North Walnut St. in Milford. Restitution checks will be distributed to consumers at that time. Images II, located in Milford, filed for bankruptcy protection on January 24, 2002.
Brady stated, "We are pleased to be able to provide restitution to these Images II clients. I encourage other consumers who have claims to file them promptly. Additional orders may be filed as appropriate and necessary as we become aware of other documented claims by consumers." Members of the spa who have not yet applied for restitution have until June 14, 2002 to file a complaint form with the Consumer Protection Unit. Complaint forms can be obtained by calling (800) 220-5424 (within Delaware) or (302) 577-8600 (outside of Delaware). A claim form is also available on-line through the Attorney General's website at attorneygeneral.delaware.gov by clicking on the Consumer Protection Information button. "Images II members who filed an initial claim but have not submitted their supporting documentation should do so promptly," said Olha Rybakoff, Director of the Consumer Protection Unit.
Consumers who plan to attend the briefing on June 10th are asked to contact the Consumer Protection Unit at (800) 220-5424. Consumers will need picture identification in order to receive their restitution check. Checks will be mailed to consumers who are unable to attend the briefing.
